My name is Sam Demetriou, I am the owner of Cheeky Bar in Newstead.
How did you meet DCB Developments?
I met DCB through a cousin; word of mouth. He just mentioned their name and I was looking to start my new business. And from the moment I walked into the meeting with them, I didn’t have to speak to anyone else, because it just felt right straight away.
What was it like to work with DCB?
It was very easy working with Christian & Dan – they took the responsibility of everything away from me which was fantastic, because I was running the other business at the time and I didn’t really have all the time in the world to do all this, to set it all up, to do everything that they know. So that made it really easy for me. Especially because it was the first shop that I myself was fitting out – so I learned to go along with them which was great.
What is about their process that makes them stand out?
DCB Developments are very organized, very thorough and they make it so that every step of the way, I don’t need to know – well I do need to know, but I don’t need to worry because you know that they’ve got everything under control, you know what I mean? I think they’re very organised; you know what’s happening at every point in time and that just makes it really easy for us as clients.
Could you describe the brief you gave them when you met them?
I briefed them on what I wanted to do and what other people had done similar to me, but together we were able to change that and create a concept that was much better than what I had done – I knew what I wanted, but it was great to have them there as a guide to help me push my concept in the right direction and get it to where it needed to be really.
What is it about your partnership you value most?
I definitely value the fact that you feel like family when you’re with the boys. You trust them and it’s big – trust is huge and to be able to trust someone to make your dream a reality, that was very important. We’re family oriented so to have that in our work, in our businesses as well was very important.
