5 Minutes with Hayley from Archie Bolden

5 Minutes with Hayley from Archie Bolden

HAYLEY RICHARDS, ARCHIE BOLDEN

“A designer is only ever as good as their brief.”

What do future business owners need to look for when picking their interior design?

Be sure to meet a lot of designers. Pick the right one for you to be with you on the entire journey, especially with more than one fitout. Don’t always go with the biggest portfolio as the relationship is crucial to any successful project. Make sure you mesh well with that person. You will then work together with amazing flow. I now know what my clients want and ensure that it is priority with all of their projects.

Sam – I agree, relationships are everything! I wanted to work with Archie Bolden and their team and it has paid off.

Hayley – You want to walk into a place and it is Cheeky Poke and Sam not walk into a place and know its Archie Bolden. My job is to honour Cheeky rather than inject Archie.

Sam – This first job is going to be harder than the others as we all have to get in and understand each other but from here it will be easier and will definitely pay off! We will know what we want and don’t want. Hence why the relationship is key!

What are top tips to any business owner when taking on a big fitout project?

  1. You need to know yourself and your business and what you’re trying to get out of that project and communicate hard to your team. At the end of the day – a designer is only ever as good as their brief.
  2. Once you’ve nailed that – test your team with a return brief. We must be on the same page. Once that foundation is set – it becomes your rock and will always bring you back to straight.

What’s the most important thing in your partnership with a developer like DCB Development?

Its actually quite amazing how many moving parts there are under the fitout roof. Being able to work together and have fluidity at all times from all parties is key to ensuring the project reaches the best possible outcome.

Watch this space for 5 minutes with the Bossman himself, Dan Cox, Director of DCB Developments on the Garden City Cheeky Poke fit out.
